McKayley is a New York City-based writer, illustrator, animator, and stand-up comedian. Her work has been featured in such publications as The New Yorker, McSweeney’s, The Onion, and Reductress–– a satirical magazine where she currently serves as the senior editor and for which she has written over 650 articles. In 2024, she created, wrote, animated, directed, and edited the short animated pilot, A DAY IN MY AFTERLIFE, for Adult Swim SMALLS, and it is streaming on their YouTube and Instagram with over 80,000 views. In print, she wrote for Reductress’s satirical self-help book, How to Stay Productive When the World Is Ending, named one of Vulture’s Best Comedy Books of 2023. As a stand-up comic, she has performed across Brooklyn and currently hosts the monthly stand-up show, Reductress Presents: Haha, Wow! at Union Hall. In terms of her personal social media, McKayley regularly goes viral on Twitter, where she has amassed over 14,000 followers, and her Instagram reaches an average of 130,000 accounts per month. In addition to her work as a writer and comedian, McKayley also completed an entire day of law school before dropping out, so don’t be afraid to reach out to her for any legal advice. She is not qualified to provide any, of course, but she would love to rattle off something vague and unhelpful anyway.
When she’s not writing, performing, illustrating, animating, or offering shady, off-the-record legal advice, you can find her behind her apartment building, doting on the 20 stray cats that she hopes will one day love her for her and not just the treats she brings them.
